The inaugural Creamfields festival was held in 1998 in Winchester, Hampshire, organized by the team behind Liverpool's legendary Cream nightclub. What began as a one-day outdoor event quickly captured the imagination of the UK's dance music community, laying the foundation for what would become the country's most important electronic music festival. The first edition featured a lineup of the era's biggest DJs and attracted thousands of fans eager for a large-scale open-air dance music experience.
After several years at various locations, Creamfields relocated to its now-permanent home at the Daresbury Estate in Cheshire, situated between Liverpool and Manchester. The move proved transformative, providing the festival with the space and infrastructure needed to grow significantly.
