Pierre David Guetta
From Parisian underground clubs to the biggest stages on the planet
David Guetta, born Pierre David Guetta on November 7, 1967, in Paris, France, is one of the most influential and commercially successful DJs and music producers of all time. Over the course of a career spanning more than four decades, Guetta has been instrumental in bringing electronic dance music into the mainstream, bridging the gap between underground club culture and global pop music in ways that permanently reshaped the musical landscape.
Guetta began DJing at the age of 17 in 1984 at the Broad Club in Paris, immersing himself in the nascent house music scene that was emerging from Chicago and New York. Through the late 1980s and 1990s, he became a fixture of the Parisian nightlife scene, hosting the legendary "Guetta Blaster" party nights and honing his craft as both a selector and a performer. His deep understanding of what makes a crowd move would become his signature strength.
His debut album, "Just a Little More Love," arrived in 2001, introducing a wider audience to his blend of house music and pop sensibilities. The follow-up, "Guetta Blaster" (2004), continued to build his reputation across Europe, but it was his fourth album, "One Love" (2009), that catapulted him to international superstardom. The album featured "When Love Takes Over" with Kelly Rowland, "Sexy Bitch" with Akon, and "Memories" with Kid Cudi, all of which became worldwide number-one hits.
The release of "Titanium" featuring Sia in 2011 marked a defining moment in Guetta's career and in EDM history. The track became one of the best-selling singles of all time and earned Guetta Grammy recognition, cementing his status as the godfather of EDM-pop crossover. His collaborations read like a who's who of pop royalty: Rihanna ("Who's That Chick?"), Nicki Minaj ("Turn Me On," "Hey Mama"), Usher ("Without You"), and many more.
In 2020, Guetta broke new ground with his "United at Home" charity livestream series, performing from iconic locations including the Louvre Museum in Paris and the rooftop of a Miami skyscraper, breaking YouTube livestream records and raising millions for charity. Around this time, he also co-created the "Future Rave" genre alongside Danish producer MORTEN, blending big room energy with techno and rave elements, proving that after four decades he still had the ability to innovate and push electronic music forward.
Today, David Guetta remains one of the highest-paid and most in-demand DJs in the world, holding residencies in Ibiza, headlining every major festival from Tomorrowland to Ultra, and continuing to release chart-topping music. His relentless work ethic, genre-defying approach, and passion for uniting people through music make him a true legend of dance music culture.
